Curriculum vitae

Vicki Stavrou completed a two year diploma in colour and design and later went on to paint commercial murals for Australian and overseas clients. She painted background scenes for ABC TV, completed murals for commercial buildings, the largest being a two storey building. But her love of producing trompe l'eoil murals led to her designing and painting murals for many private residences throughout Sydney including a trompe l'eoil for Gay Waterhouse's stables.

Moving into the fine art scene, she started exhibiting in group shows throughout venues in Sydney. She moved to the Byron Hinterland in 2012 and has exhibited at the Murwillumbah Art Trail twice and the Pack Gallery's Anniversary Exhibition. Her solo exhibition ‘Coastal Muse' at the Tweed Regional Gallery was an outstanding success.

Vicki has been a finalist in the Border Art Prizes, Gallery 7 Art Prize, Byron Art Prize, 30 x 30 Art Prize, third prize winner at the C.A.S.E. Postcard show, and selected as a finalist in the BAM Art Prize in 2018 where she received an honourable mention for her work.

Artist Statement

Throughout my life I have always been interested in the beautiful reflective patterns in water and the constantly changing qualities the light brings.  I am predominantly a fan of colour so most of my work focuses heavily on producing exciting colourscapes with textures and subtle layering.  If I feel excited about the colours, I hope others will too!
